Neural and Cognitive Predictors of Recovery for Verb Learning in Aphasia

This study attempts to use functional and structural MRI measures to predict the ability to recover use of verbs in stroke patients with particular forms of Aphasia that disrupt word retrieval.  We are taking behavioral and MRI measures before and after a verb learning intervention. The results of this study would reveal which neural structures are critical to regaining language function in aphasia patients and whether certain localized infarctions prohibit recovery of function.
